• Public Notice - Notice of Code Enforcement for 2007

In its continued effort to enhance Sparta’s image as “What a neighborhood should be”, the Village will begin active code enforcement the week of April 9th, 2007. Although the Village will actively enforce all ordinances, the most common violations are as follows:

  1. Junk or Inoperable Vehicle (including boats) Ordinance

  2. Grass and Noxious Weeds Ordinance

  3. Sign Ordinance

  4. Solid Waste Collection/Disposal Ordinance

  5. Property Maintenance Ordinance

  6. Off-Street Parking (Residential Front Yard) Ordinance

  7. Placement of Leaves and Other Materials in Streets

The Village is strongly encouraging those property owners who are in violation of any of these Ordinances to take the necessary steps to rectify the matter as soon as possible. If you are unsure as to whether or not you may be in violation of any of the above listed Ordinances, please do not hesitate to contact Village Hall. Regardless of the source, reason, or ownership of those items which may be in violation of the Ordinance; Village Ordinance recognizes the current property owner as the responsible party for Ordinance compliance. Any costs incurred by the Village in establishing Ordinance compliance will be assessed to the property owner found in violation for the next taxable year.

The Village would like to thank you for your assistance in helping to make Sparta “What a neighborhood should be!”

• Brush Pickup

We will again be picking up brush starting the week of April 2, 2007.  Brush will be picked up the first full week of each month.  Please place brush between sidewalk and curb, not in the street, with cut ends going in the same direction.  Monthly brush pick up will end the week of September 3, 2007.

Just a reminder – the Village does not pick up leaves, garden waste or grass clippings.  If you prefer you may bring them to the Sparta Department of Public Works Garage at 276 W. Division Street.
